I searched and didn't find anything close enough to my problem.

Driving my car home, it's 98 degrees. Car was fine on the highway. Once I got a few minutes from my house, it started to climb a little bit on the stock temp. guage. Nothing too bad, but higher than normal. When I stop or slowly going it's back to normal. Coolant is comming out of the overflow hose. Car is pushing 18 lbs. Mods in case it helps in the remote diagnosis.. :thumb:

That is one of your problems. When on the freeway, enough air should be getting into the radiator. But as soon as you slow down to street speeds, the FMIC blocks pretty much all air to the radiator. I am guessing that since you have the FMIC, you also got rid of the stock ducting. So this makes it even worse. Because even when the air gets through the FMIC, when it hits the front of the rad, all it does is go around it withough going through it.

My suggestions:
1) Get a new thermostat and flush your system with fresh clean fluids.
2) Rewire your A/C fan so it turns on with the regular fan
3) Fabricate your own ducting to the radiator like many on this site have done

Last resort is to upgrade your Radiator and fans so it cools more efficiently.

Hope this helps :thumb:

I'm going to get a new thermostat and radiator cap tomorrow and have them check the temp switch on the radiator. The car only has one fan. I'm also wondering about oil. Can someone get me the mesurements on an OEM 2ga GSX/TSi dipstick? We have a 1g dipstick in it, but the tubing is the 2g tubing. I have one of those adjustable dipsticks I want to keep around for checking the oil level. Also, a side note. Unless the car is warmed up, it will die comming to a stop. The paperwork for DSM link says the tune is set to idle at 750rpm and it's like, about 600 it seems like. The previous owner had been running this set up for a while and he said he never had a problem. The temp. never even gets up to 3/4. But after the first time it happened, the overflow bottle spewed some boiling coolant but was still pretty full.

Definitely try a new thermostat. Maybe even get the one that "pops" if you overheat to help further diagnose a problem.

I can feel coolant boiling in both radiator hoses. When the car turns off, I hear a sound like a pressure cooker shaker thing over by where the hoses connect to the head. I have the thermostat and coolant temp. sensor, but it's now storming so I can't install them. This sound bothers me... I've never heard anything like it and have no idea on diagnosing it.

That cant be good at all. Once you install the new thermostat and coolant temp. sensor, be sure to make all the air bubbles in the system come out. And fill it to the proper level. You might have to do this for a couple of days too. In the mornings, check the coolant level and then fill if needed. Then monitor your temps and repost back if anything happens.

Best of luck.

Yeah hopefully it is just that. Also when you install all the new stuff, be sure not to forget to silicone the housings and what not.
