Ok, I degreased today, and then sprayed down. Now the engine turns, but never actually starts. I got a new battery and alternator, so they weren't even in the bay while I degreased or sprayed down... so they were deffinitely not hit... I removed and checked the ignition coil (which looked dry to begin with) and it had a few drops on it so I wipped them off and re-installed... What else should I check???

Check to see if any of the other electrical compnents are wet. Especially the wiring for the transistor pack and the CAS.

Ok, I checked the CAS, and it had water in it... I let it dry for a couple hours in the sun with the cover off and re-installed EXACTLY how I removed it. Car still won't start... Is it ruined for good??? How much does a new unit cost??? I still haven't checked the transistor pack simply because I don't know what it looks like or where it's located. Maybe I could get a little help on that.

wow thats why u cover things up when you clean your engine bay. If your cas had water in it id assume that cant be to good. Maybe 150 dollars at the dealer for a new cas (guesstimate) . The Power transistor pack is right next to the coilpack. If you follow your wiring harness from the coil pack it shouldnt be hard to find the transistor pack.

Thanks, I've found the transistor pack... I've been reading and have heard that the transistor pack is the main cause for ignition/spark failure. Is it possible to test it to see if it is good or not??? And I'm still wondering if the CAS will be good after it completely dries out... I've heard of people actually starting their cars while it was wet on the inside and fried it. My car has never been started since the wash.

I'm new, and yes, I'm slowly realizing how stupid of a mistake this was...

Make sure the spark plugs aren't drowning down in their little hidey holes.

Gently twist and pull on the spark plug boots and pull them up off the plugs.

If the spark plug wells in the head are full of water, you won't have any spark.

You can just twist the corner of a paper towel into a rope, and soak up the water. Wipe the inside and outside of the wires, and let them air dry.

A quick test for the cas while it's out of the engine is to turn the key on and spin it in your hand (not connected to the motor in other words). You should hear the fuel pump run, and you can also hear the injectors and plugs fire.

Don't beat yourself up too much over it, we've all done at one time or another.

:tease: Those that they say they haven't are either lying, or they have a really dirty engine compartment. ;)

It's not the CAS!!! woohoo!!! heheh. I did the hand spin thing with the key on, and I could hear somewhat of a clicking noise like the spark plugs were firing. I also checked the plug wells. No water in the wells but a little condensation, so I left the plugs out and air dried. Still got to check the transistor pack... Tomorrow is another day...

She starts! She starts! I didn't even have to check the transistor. I took it out and set it in the sun for a couple hours and re-installed. Thanks for all the tips and help guys. :thumb: I'm sure you haven't heard the last of me. heh.

P.S. I really didn't pay attention to how I put the CAS back on... But the engine sounded wonderful at idle and reving... What would go wrong if I placed it in with the little spinner key 180 degrees flipped???

Im also pretty new to dsm's and my biggest suggestion is use this link:

http://www.vfaq.com/

Read everything you can stand to read and when you finish read it again. I could have saved alot of frustration if I had done this to begin with.
