OMG...one problem after another! I think that was how my alternator died on me last night.

its the big waterpipe attatched to the front of the block. its leaking from the part where the water pipe goes into another hole or thing, which is right under the power steering housing or whatever its called. is there a gasket inside where those parts join? if so how do I even remove it? thanks

Are you talking about where the water pipe goes into the water pump? There is a rubber O-ring that seals that up, you should be able to get a replacement online from JNZ or from the dealer.

yup that one. my friend says I can just remove the oring without taking the pipe off? I don't see how I can do that.

I ended up having mine done with the timing belt. It was just a slow drip, but it killed my alternator. Some people said that you can unblot it from the thermostat housing and the bracket under the manifold and pull it to the side. But others told me that you have to drop the turbo or pull the water pump.

I was due for a timing belt anyway, so I just had it done when they did that. Sorry I can't be of more help, but if you give it a shot let us know how you make out.

ok...I'm going to go to the local parts store and look for it before I take it apart. what is it called? rubber oring for water pump?

You gonna have to pull the turbo, or lift out the exhaust mani with turbo (best idea to me). Ive tried getting it without removing them and had no luck. But while you got it out, you minus well replace the o-ring at the other end, new t-stat. When you remove the t-stat housing, you will have to use some water seal RTV.

Autozone won't have the o-ring by itself for sale. You'll have to go to either the dealer or order from JNZ. The only other way to get that o-ring is to buy a new water pump, it'll come with an o-ring.

One common source of a water pump leak is the o-ring not installed properly. You must replace the o-ring in the crossover inlet pipe by putting it on the pipe end first, coating with coolant, and then insert pipe with o-ring into water pump – do not put the o-ring into water pump first as it will not seat properly and will leak.
Also do not use RTV on the water pipe. The o-ring does the job of sealing the water pipe to the pump housing and doesn't need anything else. The RTV will reduce it's ability to seal and flex and can actually create ways for the coolant to leak. Make sure that the water pipe is free of any corrosion where the o-ring sits and that the o-ring is lubed with coolant before putting the pump on so it isn't cut or torn. Take a scotch brite pad (the green kitchen scrubbers) and polish the water pipe end if necessary. Use a new o-ring. Make sure you don't scratch the inside of the water pump.

thanks guys. fixed it. had to drop the turbo and everything. it turned out that the o-ring was bad so when i was prying it out with a screw driver, it broke off a bit. after it was out i bent it and it started cracking all around. i got an extra oring from a friend and that seemed to have solved the problem!
