Hey guys, i got this cel while i was driving from work, i Wot the car and the car kinda choked on me/hesitated and the "check engine light" came on at the sametime. I took it to Autozone they told me it was a wastegate malfunction..so my question is: How do i go by checking this problem? what is the first thing i should check for? PS: i just put a 3"catback exhaust, does this mod has to do anything to do with it? sorry for bombarding you guys with all these questions at once but i hate CEL's.

Never had that CEL code before, but I would assume start checking the boost signal lines to the wastegate and boost controller (or BCS if you still have it). Do a search for vacuum line diagrams and make sure everything is hooked up properly.

To check the wastegate you can hook up an air soure to it. A bike pump....air compressor etc. You have to remove the wastegate from the turbo in order to do this. It should just be 2 bolts holding the wastegate to the compressor side of the turbo and the arm is held in place by a "pin" just remove that. Once you remove that it should just come off. When you hook an air source to the wastegate the arm should move in and out.
