Ok so im stumped ive read alot of threads ive done all the basic tests and i cant find out what is not making this car start!

Heres the back story on the car. Bought it right before spring break. Didnt run 1990 mitsu GSX

Here are the things i have checked.
ECU =good
Battery=good
Fuses= 80amp alt replaced the rest are good
CAS=Replaced with another one the old one 2 wires had disconnected
My profile is up to date.

What else can i check i have gone throught the car with a test light and everything is recieving power...

Ignition Coil? How can i test that.

If you could tell me what to test and how to test it that would be great.

thanks!

Have a friend or some with you to start the car. Pull one of the spark plug cables out and put the tip on a metal surface like a bolt. then crank the car. that will throw out a spark. if it doesnt, then that is your problem.

or,

borrow a coil pack from someone you know that has the same car as you and try it on your car and see if ill start.

thanks for trying to help guys but i discovered a problem that may end my entire project. The car has low compression and i mean low low like 60 60 40 40 in every cylinder. I tested my running car just to make sure the compression tester wasnt messed up and i got a normal number... So yea i need to think of something maybe a partout or whatever...

Before you rip the engine apart, do a leakdown test to see where you're leaking from. I've seen all kinds of things throw a compression test off, from testing with a closed throttle, to cranking with a weak battery. An engine that hasn't ran in a long time will give you funky compression numbers too.

Quick and easy way to test for spark is to pull up a plug wire and stick a spare plug in there. Have a friend crank it over, if you see a spark, then you're good, if not, then it's either going to be the coil pack or the power transistor. No need to test all four cylinders. If you have spark in #1, you'll have spark in #4, same goes for cylinders #2 and #3.

If you really want to test using a multimeter, here's the steps, pulled directly from the FSM (something I highly recommend you acquire if you plan on keeping this car):

ok thank you so much Wiseman! I just lost complete hope when i saw those numbers..
you gave me some back.
There are a ton of things that i think are causing the problem.
I am going to do a leakdown and see what i get
The car also hasnt been started in over 2 years from what i can tell
The previous owner used alot of putty type gasket stuff so i think its leaking from there.

I just pray pray pray its not a broken valve or piston i cant begin to afford that.

Im going to test that ignition coil with the multi meter.

well just because the compression is low doesn't mean you should botch the whole car. A lot of times you can simply hone the cylinders without taking the block out of the car... also re-ring the pistons... and you may be good to go.
