horrible misfire after block rebuild

well my 90 tsi fell victim to losing the oil filter while driving locking it up.....since then i went and got another block and built it up with new rings, bearings,seals, etc...recently got it all back together went to fire it up for the first time and i have the most horrible misfire.....my vacuum is reading below 10 and its hard to keep running.....thought maybe a problem with my valves so i did a compression test and i am getting 170s across the board.....redid the timing just to be sure it was dead on and it is....now it started having a weird sound coming from my head....real fast clattering it sounds like.....did a compression test again and i am still in the 170s....could someone please point me in the right direction as to what my problem possibly could be...and what to be checking for....i replaced the plugs coils are barely a month old.....and i am getting spark to all 4 cylinders .....and could a misplaced vacuum line cause this because i think i might have one or two crossed possibly.....any help would be greatly appreciated as always

have you checked your EGR valve? It does sound strange after a rebuild though. with good compression it doesnt sound like your loosing anything, have you checked the small things, coil,wires,plugs ect

well all i wanted to let you all know that i fixed the car it turned out that i had the crank timing plate on backwards....and shes running good once again....thanks for all the help on this and my past problems
