Well I'm very new to DSMs being as I just bought my first one tonight. My problem is it idles rough, and has some issues starting when its cold. The car has a freshly rebuilt engine in it with about 900 miles on it. The kid I bought the car from said it was the sensor on the throttle body, but he wasnt 100% sure.

Basically when I go to start it turns over a few times before firing up. Then while im sitting and its idling it will idle like a V8 with a huge cam in it for about 30seconds to a minute then idle nice afterwards.

Whats the problem here? Its a 1991 eclipse GSX... the BoV is venting to the atmosphere, but that wouldn't cause the problems would it? I know venting to the atmosphere is a bad idea... I will be taking care of that problem tomorrow with a trip to schucks auto parts.

well you see, on the non turbos we dont have MAFS we use the IAC sensor, that the only thing on the throttle body that would cause that but you gave a turbo so you have the MAFS, i would start with the basics bro, unplug the MAFS and it should run nice but rich and with high idle, if it does then i would go ahead and get some MAFS cleaner and a few q tips and clean it out.

First off hows the weather? Is it real cold or anything? Second. Venting the bov is never a good idea so good job going to fix that. the other two things are probably a combination of bad plugs/wires and a boost leak. Pull your plugs and check them. Even if they don't look bad i would still just replace them with some NGK's. Do a boost leak check. Make sure you don't have any cracked vacuum lines and if you still have problems post back.

I have a 95 gsx turbo tht I just bought. Here's the problems. #2&#3 spark plugs aren't firijg. I've replaced coil pack, plug wires and plugs, power transistor and computer. It runs for a few but cuts off. What should I try now?

When your running on 2 cylinders its usually caused by a bad power ignitor. Replace that and that should fix your issue.

As for idle problems, do a boost leak test and fix the leaks. Check.your isc and make sure it's functioning properly. Then check your tps and adjust it accordingly. But some dsm idle like a cow on cold stats when the engine warms up it idles fine. it take about 2 mins for my talon to idle right.

I will try that n let u know if it worked..thnks bud

I looked part up n we replaced that too...I hv no Idea what's goin on witg it

I want to jump in this real fast to. I had a really low and bad idel (about 500rpm) that occasionally caused my car to stall when stopping. I read a bit and went and adjusted my BIS and my idel went up to about 7-800 ish rpm which seemed to fix it, but I am running pretty rich at idel, like getting gas vapor out of my tailpipe and my exhaust temp seems really low (my touch) considering my car is fully warmed on a summer day (90+) This all started a week or so ago. Could my rich idel be causeing my low rpm's and if so what caused it?

If you get link it makes life a lot easier. Trust me you don't have to adjust anything in the engine bay for idle issues. Best investment on my Dsm.

I was planning on getting a link, but I got slashed down to 15 hours a week at minimum wage and school starts in less than a month for me so that is way out of question. I just need my car to run decent for school and to get to MOD (100 mile trip) cause next summer I got a whole new motor I am getting in.

If you have a new motor coming in. You wouldn't want to mess it up by not running correctly. That deficits your purpose of having a new motor but runs like crap. just save up for link. Took me awhile to get mine, but made life easier.
