another 2000 rpm problem....

I've seen this before but I still have no answer. I check all the line and see no leaks anywhere.

So I'm driving my car (1996 fwd tsi) to the dealer to get the readiness for the monitors and the emsissions done ~$250 here in GA. I drive the car very gentle for about 45 minutes. I decided to give it a little boost and about 5000 rpm the car started to act all crazy and stuttered. Immediatley after that the car stars running like crap and it wont go over 2000 rpm's no matter in ahich gear it is. If I put in neutral I can rev it all the way to red line but then it will choke and shut off.

I started it up cold and it was running crappy still. I then removed the line coming from the EVAP canister to the air intake and I noticed there was no suction at all. I then removed the line from the BOV and the engine rev up a little and stater running better. I also remove the line from the accurator and the engine rev a little more to about 1000 rpm. even though the engine was running smoother, the car won't pass 2000rpm.

Any thoughts???
 
found a crack on air hose (11 on the pic). can this be the problem?

Also check to make sure you igniton system is alright. Did you do anything to the car recently, like within the last month or so.

As for your question yes, a crack in the lower intercooler pipe (LICP)can cause the car to misfire like crazy and idle like crap. By the way that is a diagram of a 1g, you are aware of that right?

yes I know it's a 1g. I have a 1g turbo. and no, i haven't done anything to the car.
 

yes it wasn't a small opening, it was huge. It looks like the previous owner replace the 2g turbo with the 1g but used the same lower intercooler air hose and use some kind of rubber adapter. That rubber adapter couldn't handle the job and cracked...
 
Now you are confusing me. Why we he replace the 2g turbo with a 1g turbo if it's a 1g. The other thing to note is that he may have used the wrong LICP or interooler. The 90 LICP is shorter then the 91-94. And the 90 has a longer neck on the SMIC.

He took the 1996 TSI(my car) stock turbo and replace it with a 1g turbo. He kept the 2g hoses on the car and use some kind of rubber adapter to compensate for the length.
