First off I have my boost gauge set to read Battery voltage. I installed a new alternator and when I started the car the gauge showed nothing like the alternator was dead. I took the alternator off took it back to napa and they tested it and everything works fine. What would be causing the the charge to not go anywhere? How do I check the regulator plug to make sure it's sending the right info to the alternator?

Thanks a lot,

The battery guage should read voltage all the time. even if the alternator is not putting out it will still show you the batterys voltage. Sounds like you have a problem with your guage not the alternator.

Well I've hooked my volt meter up to the battery with the car on and the car off and there isn't a change. I've also driven the car with the new alternator and then checked before and after and the battery was the only thing putting out a charge. Since it was lower when I stopped and my car was dead.

Okay to check if the alt is puttng out voltage is simple. Start car pull 1 batt cable off batt. while car is running. If car stays running alt is fine. if car dies then you have a problem with the alt or wiring. Also make sure you have the plug in the alt tight. I did that once, didn't get the plug in all the way and of course batt went dead while driving.
