Welp, i'm pretty sure this isn't anywhere else posted that i could find, sorry if i'm wrong.

Okay, so run down on the car.

1997 Eclipse GST.

Miles: 74,000 <--- Sorry, just bragging LOL.

Anyways, this thing is completely stock, except for some free mods a friend did.

This car has sat for over probably 2 years in my garage.(yes, i start it up quite frequently, and add new gas every month so it wont get harmed from sitting.)

The reason it has been sitting is something is wrong with the Automatic Transmission.

Not sure if its the whole transmission or not that's what i need to find out.

The car at first started like slipping and hitting a little rough.

Then one night i got in it and it wouldn't go anywhere.

I put it into drive, and you can feel a slight tug on the car as if its going to go, but nothing happens. You can throw it in reverse and it does the same thing, any gear.

Also, it makes a slight ticking noise after you remove it from park and slide it down to drive, i later took off the pan and found out that it was coming from above the valve body, which i have heard is where a shift solenoid's(sp?) is. Although i doubt just that has got this car doing this.

I have also heard there are plastic balls inside of the valve body that will go out after time and can crack and get sucked into a line or something of that sort.

A friend was in it one night and decided to try a few things while i was away from home.

He got it to go in gear but he had to put it into drive, rev it up to around 6 grand then turn the key to the off position then when the rpms fall to around 2 grand turn the car back on and it would grab the gear and actually drive.

It wont go far if you release the gas pedal after doing this, and i really didnt want to tinker with doing that because im sure it's not good for the car.

So if anyone can tell me whether its the vb or shift solenoid, gears, or just the whole A/T transmission.

I hope i gave you all enough information, if i didn't just let me know, what ya need.

Thanks.

I would check the oil level, Make sure you check it the rigth way. If the level is good then you need a rebuild I believe your pump is going out. That is what happened to I friend I know. which he had the same symptoms as you.
And that tiking is normal after a while the solenoid ticking get louder. The solenoid which causes that ticking is the TCC solenoid. Hope this helps.
