Ok so after no luck getting my old o2 sensor out of my for about a week I resorted to asking good ol dad. Well after he snapped off my sensor i wasn't too sure what to do next....so can i replace the old o2 housing with a new downpipe and o2 housing? is the old housing removable? i have a 3 in cat back right now and want to go all the way up to the manifold anyway.

Yes the old housing is removable. Get some pb blaster to break up any rust, it might take a few days. I've got an extra one if you're interested, if you were wanting to get a bigger exhaust you might as well upgrade though. It comes off the downpipe too.

Thanks man...looks like its time to go downpipe shopping! do you recommend getting seperate downpipe and o2 housing or the connected setup?

Depends on your definition of 'easily'. Can get it off with an extender rod for your ratchet, though if you have power steering the pump might get in the way a bit. But yes, you can pull the O2 housing without removing the turbo.

How did he snap it off so bad that the part you slip an O2 socket over came off? Usually I'll break off the top when I'm changing mine so I don't have to deal with the cable sticking out.. just pop a deep socket over it at that point and unscrew the remaining part. Might want to pull out the dead sensor and sell your housing off, recoup a little of the cost for the upgraded housing that way.

You can get the o2 sensor out..........

First you probably need to take off the o2 housing, because the front o2 sensor is hard to take off while on the car.

You need to:
Unbolt the stock downpipe from the o2 housing (2 19mm bolts)
Unbolt the turbo housing's ring (1 8mm bolt)
Unbolt the manifold to turbo bolts (the 4 bolts on the manifold either 14mm or 17mm)
Unbolt the drivers' side fan for extra clearance ( 4 10mm bolts and electrical plug)
Disconnect the o2 electrical plug

Pull the o2 housing. Use a torch to heat the hell out of the stuck o2 sensor and you should be able to break it loose. It's easier if you have some sort of vice to hold the housing while you try to break the sensor loose.

Or just buy a new o2 housing from: www.punishment-racing.com
and a new downpipe off ebay or: www.extremepsi.com

www.roadraceengineering.com has new o2 sensors that are pop and swap with no hassles
