Hey guys sorry i'm on limited time so I did'nt search for an answer to my problem.

I have a 97 GS-T Spyder with 180k miles. The car showed signs of rod knock so I went ahead and rebuilt the motor. I added new pistons, rods and a 4g64 crank with a balance shaft eleminator kit. The motor was overbored to .20 and I also put in 880cc injectors, aftermarket fuel pump and a new turbo in addition to exhaust mods that I dont think would have an affect on the current problem.

I had a tuner shop do the work and the car started and ran fine for a day or two then it died. It would crank but would'nt fire up. They replaced the crank position sensor and the car ran fine for another day or two and died agian. The motor currently cranks and fires up but wont stay fired up for more then a couple seconds if at all.

What I am trying to figure out is whats going on with it. I don't feel the crank position sensor is the problem because something has to obviously be breaking them. My next guess was the injectors being to big but the shop said that they would only cause the car to run rich but not cause it to not start. Does any one else know what the problem may be? I am about ready to give up on the car and sell it but I want to make sure it's not some cheap part that needs to be replaced and not something major.

Have you checked the crank for free play?

Also, you should look at your cam angle sensor. Take the cover off of the cam angle sensor using a 10mm socket and ratchet or gearwrench (3 bolts to remove). When you take it off, be gentle as there is a gasket that you don't want to tear. Inside, you will find a 14mm head bolt that attaches the rotating section to the camshaft -- this should be TIGHT -- if the bolt is loose at all, and the rotating section is freewheeling, it will cause the symptoms that you are having.

There is a preferred direction to the installation of the cam angle sensor rotating section, and it can be installed correctly, or 180 degrees off. If it is 180 off, the car will idle fine, but it will sound off and run like shit -- because you are firing the cylinders 180 degrees off.

Check this first before anything else.
