car is a 91 talon fwd turbo. allstock.
Problem is it starts and runs on two cylinders, has basically no drivablilty, but when you run it hard it cleans up and great. Runs faster in the quarter than before it was broke.
Did a compression check and it shows from left to right: 140 115 155 152. I know number 3 is a little low, but is has been like that scince I put the motor in two years ago. So i dont belive thats the problem. It dosn't generate any ecu error codes.
The problem started out with a faulty coolant temp sensor. I replaced it with a carquest replacement, and after that it developed a situation where at about 4000+ rpm with minimal load, it would go extremely lean and pop and bang and stutter very badly. shortly after it to a point where after 10 miles of highway driving it would start dropping cylinders. I suspected plugs and wires, so i checked the plugs and they look fine, and i swapped out the wires. This resulted in it running worse then ever.
when it runs it looks like it is very rich under low load conditions, yet my logger shows everything is in check when making a pull.
anyone ever experience this? is it possible my ecu is going bad?
