Hello, this is my first post, so i apology if i don't do it right.

My car is an GS-T '96... engine rebuilt on '97 and tranny changed at same year, all under warranty.:sneaky: since then engine and tranny never been touched again, all internal are stock.

Now in my car are the following:
3" exhaust fully from turbo and 3" Apexi, no cat.
Apexi BOV
K&N air filter
Upper and lower intercooler pipes
Walbro 255 lph pump.

In my garage are:
Greedy profec II
Greedy AIC
Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator kit
Big 16g Evo (from ebay)
Big FMIC (From ebay)
ACT 2100 kit
OME Timing belt, tensioners, seals, etc, etc (for turn up)
Energy suspension bushing kit. (the car needs it and maybe new suspension)

The problem is today in my last 3 miles from home, it starts smoking (a little) and a noisy like a diesel pick-up began and once at home it can not keep idle (it start).

Now I want to know what do you guys think about it, I think the engine is broking down but don't know. It worth to spend the whole parts (including engine parts, if broking) and labor cost? or just fixed it and let it go and get another better car? I bough the car new and i love it and never was crashed, but cosmetic is not excellent.

I dont know what is the problem (the engine) need to check it first before the mechanic, so i want what is going on and any suggestions is greatly apperciated.

Thanks!

How is your oil level and pressure? Lack of lubrication can make a gasoline engine sound metallic and chattery like a diesel, as it begins to destroy itself.

Also, what color is the exhaust smoke, and does it smoke more at idle, while accelerating, decelerating, cruising, while boosting, all the time?

Well, the oil level and pressure are ok as usual, except this is the first time in syntetic.
The engine smokes little in the last 3 miles to home, since then I didn't start it anymore.

I will tow the car to the mechanic tomorrow and wait what he'll find.

Thanks guy.

1) Check for vacuum/boost leaks which can cause the poor idle
2) Exhaust leak could be causing "diesel" sound
3) Is CEL on? Failing O2 sensor can cause poor driveability and smoking due to running rich
4) Clogged PCV valve could cause smoking

These are all things you can check yourself. If you need help let us know. Hopefully it's not the endstage of crankwalk. I know from personal experience that right before my previous motor completely shut down due to crankwalk it made a "diesel-like" sound. Let us know what turns up.

Thanks God!

The mechanic found a broken heater hose, so these morning when i refill the water, it leaks later, so the engine was running out of water in the last 3 miles to home and caused the smoke and the sound and idle problem according to the mechanic.

Now my question is: if the engine was running out of water for a short period, what problems can i will find in the engine? because the mechanic doesn't know yet.

Thanks again guys.

:dsm: Overheating problem???:dsm:

yeah once in the shop (tow to there) and start with no problem.

Now my mechanic is in search for any trouble could caused and after that he will performes turn up and installs the ACT 2100 kit.

I'm waiting for the hoses now.

You could have been experiencing preignition due to high cylinder head temps. I would remove the plugs and inspect for missing pieces that have melted due to the high temperatures. As far as permanant damage goes, have your mechanic perform a compression and leak down check. Doing so will let you know if your pistons and cylinder walls have been damaged or not.

I though the same thing, so I asked for the mechanic to perform a whole test to find damages. Next week I'll have the info.

Hope nothing severe.
