2g knock sensor install troubles

so i realized how lame this install is...
1. i removed upper i/c pipe
2. battery and battery plate
3. strut bar

so once i got those items out of the way, using a flashlight i could see the knock sensor. however with heater hoses and lines off the tb and throttle cables, i couldn't get my hands back on the knock sensor itself. so i tried going under neath the car to reach it, but it looks like the IM bracket is in the way.

1. can i remove the bracket without hurting anything?
2. what is connected to the bracket besides the knock sensor wiring i presume?
3. is there a better method or trick to the trade....

i honestly just looked at it and after shoving my hand back in there and not being able to reach it, i immediately gave up and decided i couldnt even see where the damn sensor plugged into...

When I install them I put my hand in from the drivers side (timing belt side) of the motor. If you go from the passanger side you have too many things in the way. All I do is remove the small braket holding the a/c harness and some other sensor harness. It is attached to your timing cover. You need a short wrench because of the limited space for movement. btw do not attempt on a warm engine as you will be touching the intake mani alot and it gets hot.

Yes, go from the driver side. It's still hard to reach but easier access than what you are trying.

I didn't have a problem with my install I went from underneath the car. Through the hole between the firewall and engine although I dont have the A/C compressor on. That might make a big differance.
