well i just rebuilt the head after the valves bent. and i got everything back together and it still won't start. the marks are lined up, it has spark, it has fuel. it only has 90psi for compression. that is becuase it has been really cold and it didn't have oil in it for 2 months. i have checked the coolant temp sensor. it is connected and i'm pretty sure it is working right. i don't think the knock sensor is pluged in but i read that it will start without that. but before i did the head i put a big16g on and it was starting funny after that. i havn't done any mods for fuel. but that shouldn't affect start up. so i am out of ideas. so anything would help. :beatentodeath:

1.) Does it turn over (crank)?
2.) Is the clutch all the way in do dis-engauge the clutch interlock? (park for auto)
3.) Starter connections, starter solenoid, starter motor

If it cranks, you have to get sufficient spark and fuel. Is the fuel pump/injectors working properly? Are the plugs, wires, and coil pack connections good? Are the ignition wires installed in the correct order?

How long do you crank it? With a compression of only 90 are you sure that your lifters are completely pumped up? You slould have 150 for static compression so if all the marks line up and you got everything I'd say it almost sounds to me like the lifters aren't pumped up and that's why you don't have enough compression and why it's not starting. Try unplugging the injectors so it's not dumping fuel in the cylinders and crank it over a few times for about 10-15 seconds at a time. Do this for about 3-4 times and plug the injectors back in and see if it starts. If not get back to us.

yeah it cranks. yeah i will have to try the lifter thing now that it isn't -25 outside. i had a lifter that was stuck open when i first got the head back from the shop. so i'll try to get to the shop that it is at now and try pumping up the lifters. i'll write something later today.

oh and it is a stick. but there is a sensor on the temp housing the has 2 vacuum lines going in to it. what is it for? i haven't seen anything about it on here. well anyway mine has one of the vacuum things broke off. would that make it not start?

I don't have either of those vaccume lines hooked to mine. It has the ports for them but they're not there. It's been so long since I did it I forget what they went to. If you have a big 16g I would definately reccomend getting that fuel system upgraded fast. At least a 190 pump and 550 injectors or even better 650's. You'll need a SAFC II or a GM MAF-t or something like that to tune for the upgrades but without them you'll be burning that engine up.

well the shop i have my car at won't like me go mess with it. so i hope the machanic can handle fixing it. i does have spark like i mentioned in my first post.

so if i have a boost controller and have it set under 15. do i still need fuel upgrades? can the 16g run good at 15psi? or will it even run that low? it was super fast for the 2 minutes before i bent the valves. oh and i do have a boost gauge and air/fuel.

I was told not to exceed 13 psi on a 14b without at least rewiring my fuel pump. You need more fuel, 15 psi with a 16g is too much. IMO: I would not boost over 10psi with your current setup for the sake of your motor.
