I have a 96 talon tsi. I just had a clutch and flywheel installed on the car. When I went to pick the car up, I start it and it is running like shit. The car is idling really low and in missing extremely bad. Every once in a while the car will idle up and then back down by itself. The car also stalls a lot. When driving, it does not feel like the car is missing but it seems like the car is taking forever to hit full boost. When i brought the car in, it was running fine. If anybody has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. I dont know if there are any sensors bu the transmission or anything that they forgot to plug back in when they took the trans out to install the clutch. Thanks in advance.

Could be a bad boost leak because they might not have put your piping back together properly. Do a boost leak check.

Also, when i first start the car, it will idle higher than usuall, then it will quickly drop way down, start missing really really bad, then usually stall.

Check if any vac hoses are disconnected. That caused this prob for me recently. Particularly the EGR ones which are hard to see under the throttle body.

Agreed. Check all of your vacuum hoses. Also check that the sensors haven't been disconnected.
But the place that did your work should take care of it if it was like that when you picked it up.

Yeah, im going to take it back to them in the morning and they can figure out what the problem is

The car idles like it has performance cams. When i hit the gas, and the rpms come down, there is a strange high pitched whistling noise coming from the intake air filter near the MAF.

that is the sound of a boost leak my friend. That whistling sound is the sound of boost escaping through a hole/crack/leak in your intake track. Are you getting extremely bad gas mileage, power loss, and black soot shooting out your muffler more than normal? If so, you have a big boost leak. You can check it yourself. Check all of your intake and intercooler piping and couplers to see if they are loose, not connected properly. A boost leak will have a dramatic effect on idle. They probably didnt clamp your piping down all the way, or didnt slide the piping all the way into the coupler. That happens a lot on the lower "L" piping going through your engine bay connecting to the intercooler.
