Assume you have drilled and cross slotted rotors:

Wouldnt it make sense to extend the slot to the outer edge? I mean... it aids in cooling and helps to vent gasses so why not? I was only able to find a FEW that had slots that extended all the way to the edge. I'm curious as to why more companies dont do this?

Anyhow.. I'm thinking about playing around with this idea a bit. It wouldnt be very hard to build a jig for a grinder of some sort. Perhaps I'm beating a dead horse here but it seems like an easy mod that would increase braking performance.

Honestly i really doubt you'll gain ANYTHING noticeable with this...
If they aren't good quality rotors you run the slight risk of the rotor coming apart and throwing you into a cornfield like one of the other members on this site. I forget who it was...it was about a year ago.
Since your going to pay the money for GOOD quality rotors i'm sure they know what they're doing. I would suggest not messing with their design, as it could mess with their intensely complex design and structure of the rotor, ultimately making it weaker...

The reason you don't see them go to the outer edge is because the pads don't "hit" the outer edge. If you look at a proper brake set-up you will see that the pad "path" is the area where the slots cover.

Now when you get into "big brake" upgrades such as the Power Slot plus set-up where you use the OEM calipers with extension brackets the pads actually do have a different radius than the rotors and....."maybe"....slotting out all the way would do some good, but more than likely it would compromise the rotor.
