Alright im new to DSM (been a honda man for 5 years). I've been talkin to some of my friends and they say its possible to swap out a 1st gen engine into a 2nd gen. Would this be a big project or just a simple swap? Also i have a gst and i've found a 1st gen engine with a awd trans...would it be hard to make a gst awd? Thanks.

For your first question: http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/tech/1gina2g.pdf
Check VFAQ under the Engine subsection.

I assume you have a GST and would like to convert it to AWD? For that question:

If you follow any of those links, you can read up that Road Race Engineering (RRE) can give you a lot of information about it.

Amazing what a little searching can do.

well i've done about 4 with hondas so i know how to do a motor swap and ive helped a guy do a 420a swap in his 95 eclipse. Im just wondering if it will be a direct swap...and if i use the 1g transmission bolted up to a 1g engine in a 2g eclipse will it work?

See my response above. Anything is possible, but that doesn't mean it is cost effective or worth the effort. You need far more than just the tranny to make it AWD.... rear subframe, fuel tank, exhaust, drive shaft, etc... let alone refabbing the mounts for the tranny.

The engine swap will be pretty straight-fowared. Like honda swaps some modification will be required to the engine harness and/or sensors.

Converting to AWD will be not worth your time, because the time and money you need to convert it to AWD will be more then just selling the car you got now and buying an AWD.

So do the 6-bolt swap but not the AWD conversion. A FWD car can be just as fun as the AWD car.
