Well tonight my girlfriends car decided to fail us.
After taking the car for a drive and preparing to break in the engine the car just died.
Some info...
Its a 99 Gst with a 7 bolt.
Rebuilt long block

Drove it for about 7 miles and suddenly it just died.
Its cranks over perfectly fine just wont fire up, so i checked for spark.
No SPARK!:notgood:

I check fuse box, wires, and plugs. I also checked the connector for the ign. box. All seemed fine.

That all i could check tonight because its about 30 degrees outside.WTF
Any ideas would be GREAT!

Please help!

Could also be the crank sensor or the camshaft sensor. When either one fails it cuts the ignition. Do you have a CEL?

thanks guys...

i checked everything. and it was all good... but the car still won't start... it has two aftermarket alarm systems on it (from the previous owner) so we were thinking that maybe those were wired weird and messed it up... do you think something like that could stop it from starting? cos i tried EVERYTHING.

2 alarms? ooooook. yea, that could deffinatly affect it. does it have a remote start function? if it does that one could be canceling it out. i would recomend removing at least one of the alarms systems. but first find the main power wire for the alarm system, most of them have an in-line fuse holder with a fuse in it. if you pull that fuse it will disable the alarm. then maybee it will start. i would also check your coil packs. if the motor was running really rich...too rich it would cause way high resistance in the secondary circuit thus drawing too much power from the coil to make the spark. that could cause your coil packs to fry. the normal voltage from the coil should be 5-15kv for 1.5 ms. if the variation is any different than you have a poor mixture. if you only got 7 miles on it before it died the ecu could have still been in open loop and running rich to warm the engine. a code reader or scan tool like modis can tell you exactly what is wrong and what sensor. good luck

I had the exact same problem...I changed my intake and it wouldn't turn on at first i thought it was the throttle or the fuel pump but i checked the spark plugs and had no sparks... so i changed the distributor (coil-over) ad still and my friend moved the wiring that connects to the distributor and it started up so maybe it could be the wiring idk hope this helps

Simple check for the ECU, turn the key to the on position, when you do this the stock boost gauge needs to go to 0, and you need a cel for 5 seconds. if you don't get these, you need a new computer.
Check the cam and crank sensors for being tightened down. It's easy to miss something like torquing a couple bolts on a sensor, even such an important time deciding sensor.
Plus it's possible that something got hot and quit working, and it's not really related to the new block. for instance, there is an imperfection in a plug wire, causing resistance slightly out of spec. it gets hot, and with the heat it moves farther out of spec, and can't spark on time because of that. the increased resistance fries the coil. Things like this need to be checked. and good luck man.

had same problem. replaced distributor and all is well with mine. hopefully thats all thats wrong with yours. also check all your wires, you might have a short some where

Nobody is going to trust guys advice with the screen name haha1969. are you 12?
