Well i have done a compression test and have 175-178 across the board, so i would like to know what problems this could eliminate? (meaning what couldnt the problem be)

I see white smoke out the tailpipe (coolant from what ive read), am not leaking oil on the ground or while moving, but its going somewhere because i am losing a quart every few hundred miles. Also no other color smoke.

Everyone ive talked to had suggested its the head so i was wondering what else i could check or what the possible problems could be?

Feel free to ask me any questions and ill get back to you as fast as i can.

thanks

josh

The white smoke is diffentely coolant. As for the oil I don't know. Check for leaks, take off intercooler piping and see if there is a lot of oil in there. You might want to clean the motor real well and go the napa or somewhere like that and get some dye and put into the oil and see if it leaks anywhere. For the coolant you can do the samething. Very well could be a headgasket.

Well i had a coolant leak fixed so im guessing its not that. I did the oil dye thing and have no leaks. Ill check the intercooler piping again but last time there was no oil in it. I was leaning towards headgasket as well. So what could it be with such good compression scores?

I know the 2g compression is a little higher than the 1g which is about 165. I think 2gs are about 180 if I am right. You are running what you are could still have a small crack in the headgasket and still have that compression cause you are loosing some. What is the miles on the motor and have you done any work to it.

well the optimal compression on the 2g is 178 so my compression is amazing. I havent done any work to it but the previous owner may have. Do you know what are the possible causes of burning oil while having good compression? Ill have it checked this week and get back to you. Any more help is appreciated.

it feels fine when i drive it. I wouldnt notice the oil not being there if i didnt check. And the white smoke isnt noticable unless you're driving behind me. The turbos fairly new but ill check again. What else could it be? Valve Seals or anything like that?

I would look at the turbo a lil closer. Sound to me like your seasl are going bad in it..From what I have heard the valve seals only leak at idle.

huh i never knew that. Can anyone confirm this. That woulc eliminate valve seals. Im pretty confident its not the turbo seals becasue the turbo has like a thousand miles on it, was well primed, and ran low boost, however its still a possibility. So what things would have good compression yet have all or any of these symptoms?
