Have the motor and tranny out for some work . . . wondering if I should do something to the surface of the flywheel & pressure plate while it is out, or just throw it all back in when the time comes. Last time I drove her, everything seemed to be grabbing just fine . . .

Looks like I've perhaps been slipping the clutch a bit much on my launches? LOL

Yes, you have.

I personally would NOT put that back in my car.........it's one big "hot spot". But at the very least it's time to do a thorough inspection for the minutest of cracks. If you see ANY......trash it.

I've never been a fan of machining a flywheel because it's to hard to find someone to do it properly, and I NEVER would machine a pressure plate.

But hey, that's your call.

You guys serious? There's not even 25k miles on this clutch setup . . . and the flywheel was even cryo-treated. Aside from someone slipping the clutch like they're just learning how to drive a manual . . . what would've caused this?

Slipping too much will do that. You can do it in 200 miles, or less.
Who got you to believe there was any payoff in doing cryo on a flywheel?

Heheh . . . I convinced myself :p

As for the surface condition of the flywheel, it's almost perfect. There really is no glazing to speak of . . .just the odd discoloration in the 'hot spots'. There ARE a couple of 'hot spots' that did start to glaze, but nothing at all serious. If it weren't for the coloration . . . this would be pretty much a perfect flywheel.

As for the clutch itself, there is plenty of life left on it and it has even wear all around. . .

It's definitely your call whether to use it or not. However, where there's hot spots, stress cracks are soon to follow. As stated, I would recommend to at least give them a thorough inspection. If you see the slightest crack, it's trash. You do NOT want a flywheel or clutch assembly flying apart on you.

*nods* yeah . . . there weren't any cracks, but I think i'll just hold onto it as a spare "emergency" part and just cough up the $600+ for a new flywheel\clutch\pressure plate :(

Thanks for all the replys :thumb:
