Ok this isn't a huge problem but i wanna fix it. i got an aftermarket alarm installed and it used to make my corner lights and my taillights blink every time i would engage it with my clicker but then one day it stopped doing that.. i also noticed that around that same time a wire behind my stereo melted so i just taped it off with electrical tape... anybody got any suggestions on where they tapped into my electrical system to make my lights blink? or could it be a fuse ?? anything?

thanks!

thanks! but where exactly should i look for this wire? im not too sure of the functions/purposes of a relay so im not sure if your telling me that i need to tap into the wire going to the relay. from what i think i understand everytime i press my clicker to engage my alarm, my alarm box sends about two 12+ Volt electric currents through a wire that is supposed to be connected to the relay? that would make my side markers and tail lights blink twice.

thanks!

The green/white wire would be in the steering column harness under the dash. It goes to pin 4 of a 20 pin connector which is where I would suspect they tapped into it. The relay (which is in the engine fusebox) has +12V on the other side and is activated by applying a ground to this side (which is what the lighting switch does). So the alarm must connect this wire to ground two times to blink the lights. I would recommend first testing the alarm wire that is supposed to blink the lights to make sure it really connects to ground twice. Do this by connecting a 12V light through a fuse to the battery + and connecting the other side of the light to the alarm wire. Light should blink twice when alarm activated if ok.

luv2rallye explained the PROPER way to tap into the flasher circuit... however, having run a local Audio/Security shop for several years, I will tell you that they probably tapped into it under the driverside kick panel. I cant guarentee that the color is the same, but flasher circuit can be found there as well... there is a large loom of wires leading the back of the vehicle... this is not the reccomended place nor would I condone anyone tapping there..

Also, my shop ALWAYS and I mean, ALWAYS was required to expose, solder, and hear shrink all connections for your protecion as well as ours... I bet they only used T-Taps which are a very unreliable way of making a connection... Im thinking yours is under the kick, and even though may still be connected, may not have penitrated the shielding enough for a secure connection...

Good luck.
