My 95 turbo eclipse is a automatic with 186,000 on it. The car still runs well except for the spurt of black smoke when you give it a good amount of gas (over 5,000 rpm). I love my car to death except for the fact that its a automatic which is like dragging a weight behind you. Now i have about 5,000$ to put into it. Is it possible to convert my GST from a automatic to a standard transmission, also have the engine rebuilt? Has anyone done this? What type of company would be in my focus to have this done, or could i do it? Also wouldn't the computer also have to be tweaked in some way? Finally, with a coversion of transmissions alone what would a estimate on the price be? - Thank you

The puff of black smoke could be your Throttle position sensor mine went bad and made me run rich..also could be an o2 sensor..
well the computer issue..all you do is remove your old auto ecu. and your done with that..
i bought all my parts for right around 600 bucks..clutch flywheel all of it.. i did a write up on the whole swap..

yes i had a friend that did the swap he bought a parts car for $700 sold some stuff made hes money back, still had everything he needed to do the swap. a shop only charged him $500 to do it which was a killer deal. they did great work its not hard to do when you have aparts car.
