Hey watz up i got a 90 awd and my tranny jus craped out on me so ima get another one that is from a 92 awd would i have to get change anythin to use that tranny info would be really helpful thanks

Well I can't say for 100% sure if it will work...

But from '90 - 92.5' would be the 1Ga era. (cars are the same)
And in '92.5 (mid july I think?) - '94 is the 1Gb era. (cars are the same)

I think that the 1Gb cars have an updated 4 bolt rear-end, whereas the 1Ga cars have a 3 bolt rear-end. I don't know if this has anything to do with tranny types.

So basically it should work as long as nothing was changed on the tranny in the mid 1992's. This ###### didn't help much but I think they do we just need someone else to confirm it.

Careful, rear ends have nothing to do with which trannies.

From 90 to early 91 the trannys on AWD cars had a 22spline output shaft for the transfer case. The rest of 91 and on had 23 splines on the output shaft for the transfer case.

Basically, the 92 transmission wont work on the 90 unless you swap the output shaft on the transmission to a 22 spline one. I believe this involves opening the transmission, but I could be wrong on that. Either way, the shafts will have to be swapped.

Or you could get the transfer case off the 92 that will accept the 23 spline output shaft from the 92 tranny.
