I had a head gasket problem and removed the head, replaced w/new gasket. I drove the car into the garage, but could not restart after reassembly. I have fuel pressure at the fuel rail, good ohms at the coils, new CPS only 250 miles ago. Initially the car tried to start, with a couple of cylinder firings, but now no response at all as it cranks.

Given this, I'm asking for an opinion about what I could have hooked up wrong, or in what order I should check things out. I don't get a check engine light on blink. This car seems to have an OBD-1 ECU - what is a good way to check for codes? (Data logger?). It certainly appears that there's no spark, but I can't tell if it's an ignition component failure or the ECU has shut down the engine, or the ECU has just spontaneously failed... Any Ideas?

Are the plug wires in the correct order..... Is everything grounded correctly? Also how did you test for spark. I know at some auto part stores they sell a nifty device for checking for spark and also the strength of it. Good luck.
