so my car wont start for me sometimes. it almost overheated due to a blown hose. i fixed that and still am having no luck. heres what i did in order to try to fix the problem
1. new ecu
2. new throttle body
3. fixed cooling issues

my problem is that my car will most likely start if i leave it alone for a while and then try, but not always. it will most likely not start if it has been driven anywhere. the only way i can make it start is by clearing the ecu. the other problem is that after i try to start it it dies all together and has no power. it will start if its sitting in the driveway and i start it and then shut it down and start it and shut it down. i have no idea how to fix this and ive tried everything i can think of.
another problem i have is that if i put a 20a fuse in the mpi spot on the block on the engine bay the car will not turn off. i dont know whats wrong with that but it ran fine without the fuse before all the probs im having. also there is a brand new optima red top in the car so thats not the prob.

any help would be great, its my daily driver and its killing my girlfriend having to drive me everywhere.
thanks
Jeremy

When you say almost overheated, how much is "almost"? That could have done more damage than you think.

Next, where did the new ECU come from? Sounds to me like either a bad or wrong ECU.

almost overheated is the car getting up to the hot line on the temp gauge but not going into the red. the ecu came with the car, the guy before me bought it, i am going to change the caps on the old ecu and see if that fixes that one.

if with vapor lock the car will turn over then thats not really my problem, my car wont turn over after i turn it off after driving, the ecu clicks a bit, not too much though, and the car wont start. thanks for the help

Man, that sounds awful hot to me. You might have roasted the motor. Any discolorations on the valve cover?

Have you ripped apart the new ECU to see if its fried?

And yes, the car still cranks with vapor lock. I still say ECU problems......
