I have a 95 turbo eclipse i got a few months ago.. i noticed that when the engine is under boost that smoke comes out of the tail pipe.. how can this be fixed and is it a early warning of other things.. thanx

Most likely if you can see the smoke in your rear view mirror during broad day light while zooming down the road, it's probably blue and probably bad. It's probably not going to be rich under boost, maybe if it was black all of the time, or just when it was not under boost, but if it's only when it's under boost, then it's probably rings. The white smoke is easy to identify and is usually a head gasket. You don't see allot of cars driving around like that because it is usually a short time before the blow completely.

If your friend happened to notice a lil smoke while he is driving behind you, I wouldn't worry too much. But if your valve seals are good and you stiil have to put in a quart a month, it's a pretty good sign to get rebuild plan into the works. But depending on your driving style, it may last longer. If it gets worse, you might not want to do so many 7000 rpm upshifts...

I noticed that the smoke is black and a nice size puff splurts out only as soon as you down shift and punch it... The smoke is not a continuouse cloud. The turbo does whine... also my seals are leaking on the pullly side of the engine.

If anyone has any small piece of info to educate me with please feel free to comment. I am open to all remarks.... thanx for your help and i will get a plan into action to repair all!
