Is this a cracked piston ring or bad lifter?? I need quick response!

Me and a friend rebuilt his 95 7-bolt GST motor new rings/bearings

When we finished the compression in Cyl. #1 was 25psi higher than allthe others, so I bled the lifters very stupidly by putting them in a vise and pressing the oil out of them..


1500 miles later his car starts making a ticing/knocking noise, it is at idle and goes away when it revs up or hes driving, Compression test is good all even 170psi.

he found a little evidince of oil on that spark plug over that cylinder

what could it be???

If it was a blown ring you would be losing compression within that cylinder. Can you hear weither or not the kocking/tapping is coming from the head??

thats not true, there are compression and oil rings, a oil ring could have cracked but he doesn't smoke oil... i havent been to the car.. i'm going to it tonight to check it out..

its more lick a clicking/knocking and his car got alot slower when this started happening

i really doubt it would be rod knock, rod knock doesnt slow your car down and gets louder with rpms

rod knock doesnt slow your car down

It would slow you down if it was picked up by the knock sensor.

How is his oil pressure?
