Car: 97 GSX, spectre performence filter w/ adapter, stock mas, dejon type s bov, ngk spark wires and 7's plugs. Stock intercooler piping.

I'm sorry if this is a repost or anything, I searched a bit and couldn't find an answer and I don't have time to search in depth. I need to get this fixed now, my eclipse is my daily driver and i can't be without a car.

I just installed the Dejon Type S (Greddy type s copy) and now I overheat after boosting. When idling or driving under 2900rpm it doesn't overheat. Both fans are running fine, i refilled the coolant resevoir and it's fine. I have the screw adjusted a little bit over halfway towards soft, with the nut tightened against the hat (sealed with teflon tape). I have never even come close to overheating before the new BOV. After I drove it for awhile after installing the BOV and I stopped, there was white smoke coming out of the radiator overflow tube and the fluid was boiling out of the tube in excess. I drove it after that to get it home and that's when I noticed my temperature gauge going through the roof.

There is also a high pitched squeel while boosting, what is that?

Thanks!

It is likely that the stock bov was leaking and you werent really building any boost. Now that the new one is holding boost you are building up pressure which leads to more heat generation.

Or it could be totally unrelated, are the fans turning on? How old is the T-stat? Do a compression check, it could be a blown HG...

High pitched squeel? like a shreak or like a whistle?

Whistle = turbo spooling

Screach = turbo dying

Are the fans turning on?
How old is the T-stat?
What kind of water are you putting in the coolant? Only use DI/RO water do not use tap water!
Do a compression check, it could be a blown HG causing the overheat.

Overheating is caused by a failure in the cooling system, you need to find the failure,

Both fans come on just fine. No idea on the t-stat, i've had the car 20,000 of its 90,000 miles and as far as I know it hasn't been replaced. I use 50/50 antifreeze. Why did this start just now when I replaced the BOV if it's a leaking head gasket? I just replaced the BOV This morning and the overheating started when I was driving it afterwards.

Because the higher pressure being held wants to go somewhere and the HG is the weakest link.

I would check the T-stat and prob replace it, also flush and refill the coolant system with fresh antifreeze and reverse osmosis water.

My thermostat went out around 90k miles. They are like the easiest thing in the world to change and cost all of like $7 at your local auto parts store. I'd say just change it and if you wanna test the old one, get a pot of water, set it to boil and toss the old thermostat in and see if it moves. If not then you have your answer.

What does your aftermarket boost gauge tell you before and after the BOV install? If you don't have one, get one. Have you done a boost leak test?

Replaced T stat, problem fixed. Sorry for the late notice, been busy with new problems arising! Thanks for the help!
