Alright, so my 98GSX only has 50k original miles on it. My car has ran perfect since day one it got in my hands. I decided to drop in the Evo 16G and after the install late night when i went to crank it up, i decided to turn on the head lights, nothing worked, not even the interrior dash, gauges, tail lights, etc. So the ABS light flickered a few times and thats when i started checking for fuses. I didnt look hard enough because it was dark, i was tired, and frustrated. Now everytime I start the car, it starts up beautifully, but the Battery light comes on. I checked the voltage on my battery VIA Greddy turbo timer, with the car on and it was 15.2v. I will be surely pissed if it is indeed a bad alternator. Can anyone give any suggestions. I do remember using a 02 socket to remove the sensor while they barey made contact with the alternator wires..possibly a mild bending to the wires. However, I would just like to know what are the chances its a bad alternator and what does everyone recommend me to do. I was thinking battery at first but from what I hear, everyone says its the alternator when they mention dash lights on.

Wow, I guess since i only got 2 views, i think people like reading about blown motors and trannys rather than electrical problem. I guess i cant even find help in my own dsm community.

Oh calm down. Not everyone who reads it can help you.

Don't quote me on this but I think the battery light comes on when the voltage drops
below 11v and when they is a bad connection at the battery that doesn't allow the alternator to charge or a when you have a failing alternator.

If you have an autozone near you take it to them and have the battery and alternator tested, it should be free anyways.

You have been running with the heat shields on right?

First things first, take your car to Autozone or an auto parts store that can check your alternator for free. Autozone can do it while it is still in the car. Then you will know for sure if it is the alternator or not. Make sure that the wires connected to the alternator are on snug, you could have loosened one doing the install.

Edit: Oops, didn't see DGarje777 already advised the Autozone thing.

Well i checked the voltage of the battery through my greddy turbo timer, and it read 15.2V at idle, during driving it kind of drop down to 14.6V or something. I tried replacing the battery to see if it was a bad battery I had, but its doing the same thing. One of my oil pressure sensors are somewhat broke (the fabrication clip inside..is that whats its called?) so the oil light flickers once in awhile..this happened while i was trying to connect my oil feedline to the filter housing..the sensor was in the way. Other than that, I checked the fuses that are in the fusebox under the hood, they all look good, havnt gotten a chance to check the ones near the firwall inside interrior. Also, my brake light now stays on too..i dunno why. Something weird is going on, i would hate to see a 50k mile alternator take a shit. I have been running with the heat shields all the time except when i first starte dmy car after install, i only left them off because i wanted to make sure i had no leaks from the exhaust manifold. At this point, I dont know what the problem is..but its irritating me. I will try to see if autozone or someone can help me.
