I was wanting to know if you guys could help me out this. I have searched for it, but cant find anything that really relates to my problem. My car is a 92 AWD TSI. I had the tranny rebuilt about a year ago. I put in a SPEC stage 2 clutch. With the kit was a new throw out bearing, and everything I need to install. When I got the car running again, i noticed that when i was in gear and moving, if I let off the gas, something would really start to grind/vibrate. It would give this sound off pretty loud, but as soon as i hit the gas or pressed in the clutch it would stop. As it sits at idle, there is a faint ch,ch,ch,ch,ch. It also goes away when I press in the clutch. I removed the motor a month ago, so now it is all apart. I have read a few posts, and I was thinking my TOB, but 1. it was new(whatever SPEC sent with the kit)and 2. I dont think that could be the reason why I had the really bad sounds when the car was rolling. I am in a bind now. I dont know if I should keep this tranny and save up 900 to have shep build it once RIGHT! Or if I should buy a used jdm tranny, and maybe the problem will be fixed, but then that tranny might go bad eventually too. Is there a way by looking at you TOB to tell if it is bad or not. I talked to the guy who built my tranny and he said it sounds like the mainshaft bearing could be bad, but the main output shaft coming off the tranny doesnt move in or out or at all. The shaft that comes out of the tranny and into the transfer case moves in and out just a little. Im not sure if thats normal or not.
