I've done searches and I really couldn't find the topic I was looking for. I'am going to purchase a 2nd Gen Eclipse (1997 Eclipse GSX) w/ a 1st motor (6 bolt). What I need to know is am I going to use a 1st AEM EMS. Or a 2nd AEM EMS. The owner told me I'am going to need a 1st gen, but some else on the boards said I'am going to need a 2nd gen aem. If someone can sort out this question, I would really appreciate. Thank you

Which one you use will be determined by your ECU. Since you have a 2G, you'll need the 2G EMS. Why are you getting the EMS, btw? Do you really that level of modification that all the extra hassle is called for?

:dsm: Hey thanks I appreciate it....Yeah, it does have a 18G Greddy. 720cc injectors and a Apexi SAFC. I just didn't like that he had a piggy back so I'am going the stand alone route. Plus the car doesn't even run like now and I'am taking the process of elimination to get it where I want it. It cranks, but it doesn't stay on long, maybe one or 2 seconds. It sounds like to me a electrical problem or ecu so I'am buying the EMS. Thanks

Dude, stay far away from the EMS, I'm guessing you don't have the experience to tune it yourself, which means you'll dish out hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a tuner. Get a 95 EPROM ecu and get DSMLink. It will make your life MUCH easier.

Thanks keymaster. I appreciate it dude. But I already bought it.....and, currenlty I'am going to install a Greddy Type RS open loop blow off valve. So I know how that goes, I carefully did my research on the DSM platform and I do know that you have to have a maft tuner or a AEM EMS. I came from a VR-4 platform and I love it derely. But what I do know is you can get a dsm to be fater than a VR-4 for cheaper. The curb weight on the car is not so attracting also.......I love it though :). I spent alot of money on the VR-4. But I'am willing to spend more on the DSM. I'am going to get a tuner for it and everything. I know it's very expensive but a buddy of mine has a friend who works at www.performanceefi.com and already confesed that he'll hook me up. The buddy of mine dyno'd his honda hachback and got 557whp!!!!! I saw the actual dyno sheet. He has everything retainer valves and springs, forged crank shaft and pisons, flly wheel, clutch. I seriously can't think of anything he doesn't have. Thank anyways though.

It's been nearly 3 solid months and I still haven't gotten my dsm running. The car is to far 50 miles away fom me. I'am currently in San Diego and the car is in Oceanside. The should still haven't installed my AEM EMS and they had it for nearly 3 weeks. Does Anybody know of a reliable place in San Diego/Socal area that is knoweledgable on DSM. These guys are really REALLY pssing me off. I traded my VR-4 for this car fixer upper...There to much commottion going with this situation.

I need to take vacation and work on it myself.. Need to see by myself if it's getting spark and fuel and compression, one thing that scares me though is how some people here on www.dsmtuners.com claim they have all the necessaties to start a car (fuel, spark, compression) and it still doesn't start..
Also, one more thing. Can anyone here give me solid information on how to identy if you have a 6 bolt motor? I've been looking everwhere and I couldn't find it.

Thanks keymaster I appreciate it. It's cool. I got myself into this and I'll get myself out. If worst comes to worst I'll just have to buy another 6 bolt. Thanks I really appreciate it

Didn't mean to sound like I was ragging on you about the EMS. If I were you, I'd sell the EMS, and get a 95 EPROM ecu and run DSMLink, SOOOO much easier to work with and you don't have to pay someone to set it up and tune it for you.

It's cool. I'am definialtey going to respect your opinions because of your sick car. I just want my car running man. I'll just see if I can get my car running before I swap out the ECU.

LOL! My car is far from sick at this point, but it's getting there. Have you gone to the AEM EMS forums yet? I'm sure they'd be able to help you a lot better than most of us here could.

:dsm: Just as a reminder, I just bought a 95 gsx and swaped 6 bolt for 6 bolt and didn't look at the forums to see what I would all need off the old engine, there are alot of small things that I over looked, and thought they would be the same, but this ended up setting me back on time, I'm only sayin this b/c your new to dsm and I know your on a time crunch just like the rest of us, thought I would give some good advice to make your 6 bolt to 6 bolt swap easier if this what you end up doing. Good luck man, and don't give up on it, p.s. dsm link with the eprom, thats the rout I am going "user friendly" here is the site http://www.dsmlink.com/ :thumb:
