hey guys im done with this swap. i got the car running nice. i have all the supporting mods tuning with an safc for now. it idles at 750-790. its nice and smooth. i have a coil on plug setup. the spark plugs are brand new ngk bpr7es. it runs fine for a little while and it has random misfire. i got a check engine light and i took it to auto zone for a free check. it said that it has random multiple cylinder misfire. i have not tuned the car. but i have safc set at 0 everything with 550s. i didnt gap the spark plugs. i put them in out of the box. this how i always did it with my 7 bolt. but it might be diffrent this time. please let me know what i have to gap them to. any other ideas.????

yes i am using a 1g cas. i wired with just like it diagram on road race engineering. i went with method two. i relocated the injector pins.

Have you set up the ignition timing to 5* BTDC? That helped with my random misfire... oh, and DSMlink.

no i havent tried it. i was just trying to get it fixed before i take it in for tuning. that way they dont charge me an arm and a leg. LOL. but i guess they will do the timing when they tune it. but the timing is what my friends tell me is the problem too. and if i decide to do my self do i time it by the CAS?

You'll coninue to throw that code unless you have DSMLink. Using it's invert CAS option along with being able to stop codes from being thrown, it's the best for us 6-bolt swap people. I actually just did the swap this weekend. Took 2 hours to get it started, wasn't getting spark on 2&3, then we realized the plug wires need swapped.

Setting up the ignition timing is crucial. Go buy a timing light and adjust the timing by rotating the CAS.

You have to set the CAS like previously suggested. And also pull your plugs and gap them. Whenever I buy a set they are wayyyyyy off.

thanks guys. what is the recomended gap? i have not touch the timing yet. it is stock just like it came. should i increase or decrease the timing? or should i just take it to the dyno shop.

You need a timing light to set the BASE timing. A dyno is by no means necessary. Go buy a timing light and set the timing. Before I set my timing I had random misfires and random knock in the 2800-3300 rpm range.

This is not a perfomance thing, this is general engine setup and is very important.

I just noticed you have coil on plug. It is not possible to adjust for ignition dwell time without an advanced engine management system. Also, Im not sure if you will be able setup a timing light without actual plug wires (possibly on the coil lead?).

I never understood why people go with COP when the stock ignition is good for 600+hp with some good wires.

yeah that exactly where i get misfire. but hopefully i can use the timing light with the coil on plug setup. oh and the reason y i went with COP is because the coil pack that it came with was damaged and the transitor. so i went with the COP. but i never thought about not being able to use the timing light. will a simple 40 timing light work instead of the 100 dollar digital one? sorry for all these questions but i just want to make sure i do everything right so i can race those turbo hatch civics and woop some honda:thumb:

hey i was reading on magnus motor sports website and is the pentitometer "volume controller" a good idea to use which is turnig the Barometric pressure greater than 76 kPa?
