Victoria,
I've had my DSM for about 4 months now and its a 95 TSI Talon its pretty much stock except for exhaust and an air filter. When i first bought it i was able to boost fine but shortly after i bought it the clutch went and i had to replace and ever since my friend replaced it i havent been able to get ANY boost what so ever.

First of all, i have a HUGE vac leak in my throttle body like massive :/ i've already ordered the 2 gaskets...do i need to use some other stuff to reinforce the seal other then just the gaskets? also i've had people tell me that this leak isnt my problem cause its leaking after the turbo. On my boost guage i do eventually reach the point where im suposed to boost but my guage just sticks at that point wont go higher or drop lower my car wont kick or knock, slow down, no power loss i just DONT BOOST if i switch gears my BOV will work (venting to atmosphere currently and in the middle of recirculating). I've taken off the intake and checked the turbo and all seems fine the wheel spins freely with no side to side or front to back action...i have a 14b internal wastegated turbo.

But i have some guys saying its my vac leak deff thats causing the no boost and i have some people saying it cant be that.

Someone please help me!!!

How are you able to tell you aren't getting any boost?

First check your boost gauge, does it read vacuum when you are crusing or at idle? Have you tried a different boost gauge or sensor? Use a vacuum pump to verify everything.

The next most likely thing would be your wastegate. Check to be sure the vacuum line is still correctly routed to all the turbo compoenents, and the wastegate isn't stuck or jammed on anything.

And, get those leaks fixed!

Yeah my guage reads vacume at idle and its not working any differently from before when i was boosting

The vaccum line on my waste gate is tight and still connected properly, how do i tell though if its stuck? and malfunctioning?

thanks for the help!

take the line off the wastegate and blow air into the nipple on the wastegate with an air hose, watch to see if the arm on the wastegate moves.the arm has to move back and forth.

Isnt that suposed to be pretty hard to move with just the pressure you can achieve with blowing into it? if its stuck how do i fix that? :/ can youy just pull the arm with your hand instead of blow in the tube?

I tried blowing on the tube and nothing happend, i also tried pulling the arm but i couldnt budge it

either the diaphram is bad or something is jambed in there...you will have to remove and inspect.

First off, have you even boost leak tested the system yet? Boost leaking testing will tell you where you are leaking instead of having to guess where you are leaking. There are three places you should place your boost leak tester and do them in this order.

The throttle body elbow- This way you can check and see if your Throttle body gaskets are leaking, a vaccum hose is leaking, the throttle BISS screw is leaking, if the Throttle Shaft O-Rings are leaking, or engine componenets are leaking.

The Turbo side of your Intercooler- This way you can see if the intercooler is leaking, the blow off valve is leaking, or the hose connecting the pipe your BOV goes to to the throttle body elbow is leaking, or the connector for the intercooler to the BOV pipe.

The Turbo intake- No you can check if your intercooler piping is leaking, you are leaking at the turbo compressor, or your wastegate actuator hose is leaking.

I've done a boost leak test and i have a fairly huge leak under my throttle body past the elbow where that seal is...its near the 2nd seal i think. I've ordered replacment gaskets for it and should be here within a few days. What are throttle body shaft o rings? are those easy to replace? cause im guessing if i replace these gaskets and i still have a leak its probably those things?

Here are some forums on how to do it. It isn't as hard as it sounds, I just did it last week.
