Ok this is my worst fear with this new engine. It is out of a "1999 Eclipse". This is what he said and he said it ran when pulled. I found out it had an automatic on it from the bearing when I went to put on my ACT flywheel. It is in my 1997 GST 5 speed right now. I lined all the timing marks up when the engine was at TDC. I have spark and fuel flow. The problem I THINK is my ignition timing. On the new engine the cam angle sensor was moved from the passenger side of the head over by the crank position sensor on driver side by the intake cam sproket. I luckly had the harness for the new engine so I cut that cam angle plug off and sodiered the red, blue, and black wires onto my old cam plug wires (same colors). I then wrapped it and ran it to the new plug on other side. Now when I put it all back together I went to start and it turned over fine. Sounded like a normal engine start. Backfires sometimes. Hince my suspition that it is ignition timing related. It will not fire off. I will do a compression test tomorrow as I have class all today. Please help me fix this problem. Let me know if you need pictures or any information at all thanks.

I read a thread like this once. His CAS was 180 out. It might help if it does then good but if not sorry man.

Ok this might be over my head but what do you mean 180 out?

Hard to imagine this after all the other work would be over your head. The CAS is a blade or dog drive which engages the intake camshaft on at least 1G engines. With the engine at TDC the blade must be properly indexed. To do this they have made a mark on the blade of a "V" shape, as I recall this is part of the casting / forging near the center of the blade hub. It's not a stamp from a letter set which deceived me when I couldn't find it the first time. It is in the rough cast portion that is not machined, so a bit of inspection is needed. Once found it's no problem to see it again. I can't remember which direction it has to point to be correctly indexed but there should be some pictures and description on Vfaq or in your manual.

Let us know what you find and if it solves the problem.

Cheers,
GTM
