This is on a 92 Eclipse n/t (1.8L, 5spd conversion)

Here's the problem we are having. I have been having a problem with the car starting in the mornings. It takes two or three tries before the engine will start. Once it starts, it will start fine all day.

Between me and a few friends, we thought it might have been a fuel pump, so replaced that. No luck, motor still does not start when cold. It almost seems like there is no fuel pressure in the morning, and the pump has to build it back up. I replaced the pressure regulator on the end of the fuel rail, the fuel filter, the injectors, and the MFI control unit (the little gold box, not the ECU).

The fuel pump comes on, but only when the engine is being started. (ie, it does not come on when the key is brough to "ON"). I am not getting any CEL's.

Only other issue is the idle hunts a little (varies between 700-800, and I have it set for about 750), sometimes hitting 1000 when coming to a stop.

We did a 5spd conversion on this car, but the motor ran and started great after we did this. (We had to replace the first 5spd as the synchros were shot.)

Thanks for any help and guidance.
