first off i installed a new motor in my car so i bought a new flywheel. Installing the new motor and tranny was fairly easy but now im stumped. I've never installed a new clutch or flywheel at that. I have a 2600 clutch that is no more than 3,000 miles old. I figured id buy a fidanza flywheel and installed it. Well now the car wont go into gear whenever its on. but i can put it into gear whenever the cars off. the tranny is rebuilt with also no more than 3,000 miles on it total. Not to mention when i put it in gear and turn it on the car starts to move as if the clutch completely disengaged even after im still holding the clutch in. I dont know whats wrong. ive been told that maybe i installed the clutch disk wrong. others tell me the rod that connects to the fork needs to be longer. i just want a good idea of what it can be without having to take the tranny out again. Any help would really be helpful.

thanks

Have you tried bleeding your clutch system? I have the same disengagement issue with my ACT 2600 at the moment but will bleed it once I get the car back together. Try fully bleeding it and see how it goes...if anything you may need to get an extended rod but I've heard this isn't the correct way of doing things somewhere on this site. If you know of a cheap extended rod let me know.

Yeah i agree i do actually need to make sure i bleed the clutch. After looking on here for about id say an hour i finally found out how to bleed it exactly. I'll keep in contact to make sure everything goes well. good luck

Did you put a spacer on the pivot ball fork? Always a good thing to do with an aftermarket clutch. Definately bleed it (vfaq tells how). And if none of that works, look on the VFAQ at the adjustment procedure.

Did bleeding the clutch work for you?? You may also need to upgrade your clutch line to a SS one, that could be part of the problem.

Have you checked the step height? Thats a classic sign. Also, what disc are you using? That could be the problem as well.

Wendy

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Where did you purchase your Flywheel from?
There is another thread here with the same problem and his Pressure plate was actually Flexing. it was an act 2600.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME!!! No lie, my tranny was dropped 3 times for this issue. I sent out the cluth to ACT and they sent it back saying it's all within spec and so was their flywheel. I ended up returning all the parts to ACT and getting a Clutchmasters Stage 3 clutch and a Fidanza Flywheel. I thought it was because the step on the ACT flywheel was .608 and not .610" It was a HUGE ordeal and I was without my car for 2 months. When I pressed on the clutch, it would hyper extend the pressure plate fingers. When we took it out, you could see a nice "ring" on the disc from where the fingers had touched it. I had done everything people had told me to do before returning the parts.

Anyway, Did you check the step of the flywheel before installing it? It should be .610"

Sorry about that fellas, I didn't think anyone answered back to this thread. Alright well to update i basically put everything together and yes i've read a few things about how to fix this problem. I looked into increasing the size of the rod on slave cylinder but went with the easiest of all which was the bleeding of clutch. I have a chromoly flywheel and act 2600 clutch. The flywheel's new and the clutch has nothing more than 2,000 miles on her. I have since took the tranny apart to make sure everything was in place since my friends were helping me out with that. Everything was aligned and in place. So all i did after re-installing it was bleed the clutch and it works. It's a little rough going into 1st but it either has to do with not bleeding the clutch out enough or because the motor is sitting at an angle since my driver side motor mount was broken so i need to replace it. So yes all i did was bleed it and it seems to work just fine. If you have any questions feel free to get a hold of me.:thumb:
