Screeching..i think thats the word, but anyways theres an embarrasing noise coming from my drivers side tires or somewhere ..not sure if its the one in front or rear. Usually starts at low speeds, sometimes when i brake it stops but sometimes it does it anyways. As i go faster sometimes it stops, but then again it goes faster and faster as I go faster..anyone have a clue of what can it be?

Possibly a rock stuck in your brake pad. Possibly the brake pad wear sensor (really just a strip of metal that scrapes the brake disc). Possibly a bent brake dust shield. You'll have to take the wheel off and do some checking to be sure. While you're at it, check the condition of your wheel bearings. Try to jiggle your wheels while they're secured to the hub while the car is jacked up. If they wiggle, most likely the bearing is going. It doesn't usually make a screeching noise, though. Usually it makes a roaring/growling noise, but you never can tell sometimes.

take the tire off.. than you have two options.. change the brakes.. autozone has like 25 dollar brakes... for Life time warrenty.. ( just keep brining it back and they wear out.) or if you dont have the loot and the time.. just bend the little indicator back.. and make sure you change it within the next 50 miles or soo.. cause.. you will end up digging into your rotor.. soo its your call.. ive dont both.. andi wouldnt recomend bending that indicator back because YOU WILL sractch your rotors.. :) good luck..

check your ball joints. most of the 2nd gens have recalls on them so check into it. if not spend the money and get the good brake job the lifetime warranties are a waste when it comes to brakes. with brakes its all about friction and lifetime warranties will replace your pads whenever you need them but wont replace your warped rotors after 5000 miles. spend the cash its well worth it in the long run.

well if its your joints.. you can check on that if you stop the car.. and push the car up and down.. and turn your wheel left and right.. if you hear the noise than its you joints.. depending on the lateral or the cruved.. control arms.. but if you dont have the money at the moment.. you can get the life time.. but if you do.. just get a nice set of rotors.. and brakes.. just for something to hold you down if your short on cash... like what mcleve said.. the lifetime stuff is not the best.. but its the most economical..:thumb:

I dont think its the ball joints..i don't necessarily have to turn to hear the noise. I just replaced the CV Axle joints because when i turned, i would hear a loud popping from my wheels. I would think the noise would be similar to that if it was my ball joints, but i dunno. I'm in a really tight budget right now, so i think the lifetime brake pads will be my best choice for now. I just don't want to hear that noise any longer! So if i change the brake pads, the noise will go away? Just trying to make sure..

We're not sure it will go away for sure. You have to see exactly what's making the noise first. If it is the brake pad wear indicator, then yes, it will go away if you replace the brake pads. It's possible you'll need to have the rotors turned if they're warped, though.

If the noise changes as you are cornering it is possible it could be your wheel bearings. Next time you are in your car make sharp (not irratic) turns and see if the noise's tone/ pitch change if it does then I would bet on wheel bearing(s).

i don't hear nothing when i turn, the sound is the same. I think its my brake pads because my brother had the same screeching noise in his s10, once he changed his brake pads the noise went away. I'll change my brake pads and let u guys know what happens.

Two things wrong with that. A: We don't have serpentine belts on our cars. B: It doesn't happen at a stop.
