not sure exactly what is going on but somehow my wastegate actuator is not working right. i noticed the little round diaphram on the inside of the turbine housing is completely open. my turbo is not boosting at all. the part that is connected to the wastegate rod is loose and the cotter pin is missing.i can move the arm of the diaphram easily so i dont know if its broke or not. can i fix this problem easily or do i need to replace the whole turbo. it is still the stock 14b turbo. help me im boost addicted.

Sorry, I'm not tuned in to what you are saying. If you have a picture or can find something here it would be helpful. However, that said I see no reason to replace the "turbo" because of some flapper valve. I think you may be talking about the wastgate flapper but not sure. The diaphram motor/actuator is 2"-2.5" dia, should have a connecting link maybe 6" long with an eye hole at the end. This attaches to the lever which operates the wastegate and held in place with a cotterpin or cotterpin and washer. If this is the problem, then loosen or remove the 2 mounting bolts, attach the rod to the lever and then tug on the diaphram motor and install the bolts. The spring inside is pretty beefy thus hard to tug on the rod and engage the lever arm. You can use safety wire, safety pin, small nail as a temp until you can find the proper cotterpin or retaining clip.

Let us know if we are on the right track.

Cheers,
GTM
