The guy before me ran it out of oil and the motor sounds like its trying to start but the cam gears with the timing belt aren't spinning. The other belts on like the alternator are though. I was thinking this motor is seized but i'm not sure. Any ideas whats wrong?

how did he run it out of oil? was there a leak?if the outer belts are spinning than the crank is turning and the engine is not seized. is the timing belt tight? the timing belt may be broke down by the crank gear and you cant see it. if the timing belt snapped you also probably have some bent valves.

Oh yes, there's probably bent valves. However in light of random chance falling miraculously in your favor, I would put a timing belt on it and start it, or at least attempt.

You never know. If they are bent, post and we can tell you all the goodies that go with changing a timing belt and how to and all that good stuff.

Good Luck

The turbo is bad and that is how he ran it out of oil. It may also have a leak but it isn't bad if there is one. As far as the timing belt, it is pretty tight in my opinion. I dont think that would have broke becasue of the tightness but maybe. When I rock the car back and forth in gear, the timing gears will move a little bit but when I turn the car over they dont move. I am stumped.

if the engine is spinning and the cam gears aren't than your timing belt has snapped or something timing related has seized up. you need to pull off the timing cover and check it out. check www.vfaq.com for instructions on how to do this.

Im pretty sure the motor is siezed. The timing belt seems fine. I am going to pull the motor some time soon anyway. thanks for the help.
