boost soleiniod

ok so i have been reading and see people talking about wastgate solenoid's and thing that is on top of the maf area. well i don't have one and i was wondering what this might mean?? do i need one?? it has cylcone motor swap and it seems to have unused plugs on the pass. side

sorry bad title it should be wastgate solenoid!!

I believe he is refering to the BCS. If you have a manual boost controller than it isn't needed. Which I am assuming you have with your mods. So no you don't need it.

yes i am talking about the bcs sorry, well i don't have a mbc either!! and i know need one but your saying if i have a mbc then i don't need the bsc hooked up??

If you run a Manual Boost Controller, then no, you do not need a BCS. You can un hook the electronics and the vaccum lines running to it, and use them for your MBC.

You don't need it hooked up at all. But you will have to run a line from the nipple on the j-pipe to the wastegate to make sure you have a way to regulate boost.

ok thats what i have now is a hose hooked up from the J pipe to the bov, the dude before didn't he had it blocked off and nothing on the bov!!!

The hose going to the BOV has to come from the intake manifold. Otherwise it will never open. It should be from the wastegate to the nipple not the bov.

well i have the bov and the wastgate actuator and the intake manifold all on one T but also there is a second nipple on the bov and that is hooked into the J pipe on the turbo! is this still right?

What kind of BOV do you have?

That would be correct if you have a Greddy type bov with the lower nipple, but most just leave it disconnected.

yea i have the greddy type s and it has two nipples and the bottom one is hooked into the T

If you mean the bottom one is hooked up to the T with the manifold and bov then its wrong. The ideal way two hook up you BOV, MBC, and wastegate is like so: direct source from manifold to the top nipple on the BOV and from the J pipe/compressor housing to the MBC to the wastegate or in your case since you dont have a MBC yet directly from the J pipe/compressor housing to the wastegate

well i solved the boost control problem by finally getting a mbc thanks guys for you help and time!!

I leave mine plugged seems to work either way. Then again the guy who owned the car before me...... um lets just say the these lines were mismatched and the car ran like complete crap.

well i didn't have either one and the easiest one for me to get a hold of was a mbc so i did!
