Well, my friend owns this 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD.

He has been having problems with it running.

It started out after he ran out of gas. After that the can has not been running. of course he filled it up with gas thou';)

But then the car would not rev to more than 3-4k rpm. He had the fuel filter replaced, didn't change at all. Then the car just stoped working at all. Had been sitting for 3 months yesterday due to lack of time and money to fix it.

But we tried yesterday and nothing would work, but then later without us doing nothing it started up, but would not rev more than 3-4k rpm. I drove it around a little bit to try to figure it out. There came black smoke out of the exhaust like it was getting way to much fuel, and the i saw that the boost meter(stock) went just straight to the top every time i pushed the pedal.

Also we heard a very strange sound coming from the Fuel injection, strange buzzing sound, like rely going on and off constantly. We even heard it coming from the injection when the car was off, but with the key turned on, but stoped when we turned it off.

But today we tried to start it up again, and it would not run, and the sound from the injection was gone.

If anyone does know, or has any ides, what might be going on then please share is so we can check it and eliminate this problem before we give up and send it to some workshop to have it fixed.

Thx for the help:thumb:

Sounds like it may be a fuel pump. I know the pump will start to whine a bit if it gets too low or runs out of gas. I don't know if that can be reversed or if you would have to replace it.

it gets fuel, checked that today. From what i've read here for the past few hours. It may aswell be the tempsensor for the ecu or the maf being faulty.

I'm going tho check this out.

Run a boost leak test. Like you said, check the ECU for leaky capacitors. And make sure the ECT is connected.
If that's all testing out okay, then check for spark at the plugs. Test for fuel at the rail, and make sure the injectors are spraying (look at the plugs after cranking the car and see if they have fuel on them). Then run a compression test.

Well.....

We gave up trying to find out what was wrong. Took it to the local workshop for MMC cars. They hooked it up to their computer to find out what was going on.

Their computer said that about every sensor in the car was being faulty. They think it might be the ECU that is broken. Sometimes the car starts up, but it does run like i've said before.

Can this really be the case? I can't really believe that every sensor has just gone bad at the same time. So it must be the ECU.

Tell me what you guys think might be causing the problem.

Based on what I've gathered here, its the ECU. Those frist gens are known for ecu problems.
Agreed. It is highly, highly unlikely, practically impossible for every sensor in the car to fail at one time.

I was wondering if it might rather be a poor ground or something. Or is this just the common way of how a cooked ECU behaves?
