Car is leaking

Well I havent driven my car in over a week, and I started it up yesterday, and took a peek under the car. There was a pretty decent sized puddle of what looked like oil under the car. I got as far under the car as I could, and it looked as if it is coming from the transfer case.

Could my transfer case be going bad? I know there is a recall out on the transfer case. I am guessing I should take it to the dealership to have it checked out. My real concern is, what if it lost too much fluid already?

You can open up the filler hole and pour in some 80w gear oil. That should last until you get it to the dealership. Another possibility is that the seal to the rear output shaft on the trans has a leak (the shaft that goes into the transfer case). Find out if you are leaking transmission fluid or if you have an engine oil leak. Transmission fluid as a really strong odor and can have a reddish hue. Let us know what you find--Jon

To double check to see if the transfer case or surrounding parts\seals are leaking you should put "Shot Proof" gear oil. In case you have a automatic they make also. This fluid is a bright red or yellow (depends which one you get) so if you suspect anything leaking you can tell real quick. Also "Shot Proof" is a very excellent lubricant for trannys, I have it in my car and it shifts smoother with it......You can get it and ask more questions from TiTan MotorSports.
