well i have a 2.0 n/t and i think i spun a rod bearing. i was on the highway gettin on it some not killing it but i was on the gas.. well i let off cruise for a few min and i get on the exit to get off the highway and i here this noice like a bad rattle at first i thought my exhaust broke so i gave it some gas and it was fine let off and it made this awfull noice so i get off the highway and come up to this light i let off of the gas and it makes this awful noice again. So i'm about a mile from my house and when accelerating and just cruising its fine, but i let off the gas and it makes this noice.. so i pull into my driveway and let it idle i push on the gas and let off and this noice is like 20 times worse ! wtf is this ?! i took some vid clips of the sound to help but.. if the engine idles to low it will make this noice and if slitely rev it, it will make it real bad but idleing it doesn't... follow link .. there are 2

all the help is apreciated!

IT SPUN ALRIGHT. I had the same noise right befor my engine blew a rod out the side of it:toobad: . Sorry man I feel your pain TRUST ME. Just do like me and be stupid take a huge loan out and think about it later. If your tight on cash you could have the bottom end rebuilt but you might as well do the head to why it is off. I would also not rev your car like that again your going to ruin the block and then you will have to buy another to rebuild.
Sorry again im sure this is not what you wanted to hear though.

damn i had this thing sold too! i'm going to drop the pan and see what it looks like. i drove it to school like thatOMG LOL see its fine when ## cruising or accelerating but if u let off the gas or try to slow down it makes that noice bad... i've noticed its gotten worse and my oil pressure is droping

well i have taken a closer look at it today and i've noticed my crank pulley is wobbleing around alot.. so start to think that the bolts are loose and its just rattleing really bad.. so i try and tighten them and there tight start it up and still same thing i look again and see that when it wobbles it makes the loud noice and hard bang through out the engine.. has my 4g63 6 bolt just crank walked ?! i've never heard of this in a 6 bolt but it sure does look like my crank is walking LOL...

If you blew a bearing out around your crank it's no longer solid and the crank will move. Take off the oil pan and look around to see if you see anything abnormal.

i just spun a rod bearing too and it messed up one of my rods. luckly i didn't drive it but 50 feet after it spun. but a dealership or garage will tell you to just get a crank kit for like $1,600 or so but for that price you can just get a short block. i ordered the stage 3 buschur short block for $2,200, so in my opinion just get a new short block. in the long run it will be more reliable.:dsm:

Its very VERY funny because you can buy a new oem short block from Mitsu for $1,571.06ROFL take a look https://www.mitsubishiparts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html:thumb:

yeah i know. when i first spun my bearing i couldn't tell if it was a spun rod bearing or my oil pump so i took it to the :dsm: dealership and they told me i can either get a crank kit for $1,600 or a short block for $2,000 so i just figured get the block i want for about the same price.

How has the stage 3 worked out for you?

Same thing also happened to me, but luckily with the parts car that i got for 300, i got a 6 bolt with it that i was plannin on rebuildin anyways. Not too worried about the old engine cause it was a 7-bolt, and lotta miles on her 150,xxx.
