I have a 1990 TURBO AWD Talon and I got an ACT 2600 installed 1/1/05. One week ago I noticed a problem sound and feel, got it towed to the dealership, turns out the pressure plate cracked and I need a new clutch and throwout bearing.

My first question is , does my Act 2600 even have a warranty? I assumed it does and probably should call them but is there something I can ask them if it doesn't since it broke so fast.

Secondly, what clutch and throwout bearing should I get? Another ACT clutch? OEM or different spec bearing?

Lastly, while the labor is going through is there anything else I should replace while they are under there? ANYTHING at all because I want to get it done now.

Thanks for the help in advance and any tips or comments would be appreciated.

Where did you buy the clutch that broke? Either way, there should be a warranty on it; you'll have to call ACT to pursue it. The part may have been defective, so hopefully you won't run into it again if you get another ACT clutch. Get an OEM plastic sleeved throwout bearing to go with it.

As for other things to do while you're in there, if the car is high mileage on the stock motor it wouldn't hurt to replace the rear main seal.

im thinking more towards install error by the shop than defective clutch, how much will the rear main seal run for in parts and labor (est.) ?

I got my rear main seal for about $18 from Advance. Since they're in there, it should only take a few more minutes, its right behind the flywheel, but you have to take the oil pan off to get it out.

I would ditch the ACT 2600 and get an SBR 3500 and get a OEM Mitsubshi Throw-Out Bearing!! I would also replace your "clutch-Fork" while you have the trans out!! It will save you alot of time and money replacing it now!!!! Good Luck with everything!!

OK so I ordered the parts I needed, I got:

Act 2600 Clutch
Fidanza flywheel
Clutch fork
Clutch Pivot ball
Rear crank seal
Steelbraided clutch line
OEM throwout bearing
Tranny axle seals
Tranny and Xfer case fluid
All the hardware

I have my car at the dealership currently because I needed someone to diagnose my original problem ( in another thread.)

My question is what do you think is a fair price for the labor for all this stuff? I know they are going to give me a high number but I ask so I can decide on whether or not to go there or goto somewhere else. My only problem was that I know the original 2600 I had went out probably due to install error so I don't really want to take it to some randomy race shop again like that.

Also, I told them to look for both dowel pins because I'm sure that could be a problem too.

Anyone have an idea what a fair price for the labor of the following would be : clutch, flywheel, rear main seal and gasket, tranny-axle seals, clutch fork, clutch pivot ball, steelbraided clutchline, tranny and transfercase fluid change?

I have the parts and fluid already and am just waiting on a quote from the dealership, but I want to see what you guys think would be a reasonable price to pay for this work.

I just orderd this clutch and am kinda worried after reading this.

Did you break it in before ragging on it? did it break under normal daily driving circumstances?
