Hey,
I hear this ticking from the belt and pulley area. It is a pretty rapid tick. It speeds up and goes away when I rev it up. Its not the lifters because it is not coming from the lifter area.
I will appreciate any input.

You may have an idler pulley going bad or something like that. Remove all your accessory belts and try it again. If it goes away, it's something outside the cover. If it doesn't , look at the crank pulley and make sure it's not hitting the cover. If that turns out ok, pull the cover and look at the timing belt. You may have to remove it to spin the idlers and such to see if you have a bad bearing. Also, check the water pump as they can sometimes make a weird noise.

Good Luck

Yea I would put my money on the idler pulley bearings as well. That's the exact same problem I am having. Although I also have the lifter tick... :notgood:

Now that i think about it, I am thinking that it is the idler pulley. It goes away when I rev. Sometimes the car would loose idle when i push in the clutch at the stop light. When this happens the car bogs if i turn the AC on.

hey,

My car has the same clicking from the same area as your describing. I thought it was in the valvetrain and put some valvedoctor in and the sound went away the first time I did it? It might just be something to do with the lifters? I dont know. I'm bringing it to a shop soon and will let you all know what they had to say.
