well the first gen talon i got came with a nice stainless tubular manifold..
so since the car will be in the garage till i get a crossmember,i want to swap it on..
the flange is smaller though so i will need shorter bolts??anyone know the size??
im ordering a new gasket,so this looks easy..do i have to completley remove the turbo out of the car?or can i leave everything attached minus the downpipe to swap it?
the water pump doesnt have to come off does it??
anytips would be helpfull, ive done my share of header installs, just not on a :talon:
damn..should have put this in bolt on section, feel free 2 move,LOL

first of all....you shouldnt need shorter bolts. im not sure exactly what you mean by the flange is smaller...its either 6cm or 7cm...and you will need the pertaining gasket. the 6cm is the stock 1g gasket, as the 7cm is the stock evo3 gasket.

as for the 2nd part of your question. you only need to remove the exhaust manifold. there should be studs going into the head through the EM (exhaust manifold). then if your car has the stock 1g EM and hasnt been replaced, most likely from the EM to turbo you should have one main stud, and 3 main bolts. you dont need to remove anything to do this install, the turbo connects to the exhaust housing, which connects to the 02 housing, that bolts on the downpipe. none of that should come off. just be very careful when removing the studs from the head, if you break one off or strip a hole out, it means trouble. also be very careful when removing the bolts from the EM to turbo, once again broken or stripped bolts are a problem, not as much as the head, but still unwanted headaches.

it may help you a little to unbolt and move the power steering pump, and alternator, ive noticed that novice dsm mechanics have a hard time reaching the bottom right most stud because of the positioning of the stud compared to the accesory motors.

and that manifold looks pretty, any info on what kind ? maybe specs?
