Well a little while ago I was driving home from the track.... I had some 110 in the car so of course I was having a little fun on the way back. I go to do a 3rd gear pull on the car and then I see the boost gauge go to around 18 psi (normal) and the car seems like it's down on power and not really pulling. So I let off of it... then start to smell burning oil.... real bad. I pull over and let the car idle and look under it a pool of oil starts dripping dripping. Then I had about a quart or 2 under my car. I see where it's at and it looks like it's leaking from the left front side of the block.

Later I get home and check the oil it's about a 1 1/2 quart low. So first thing is I check compression on the car 139-94-145-135. Not great but doesn't seem right to have a blown hg does it? So I think WTF. I put 2 more quarts of oil in the car start it up. It runs for about 5 minutes I see nothing. So I go and rev it up a little and then let it idle. It takes about a minute and the oil starts drippin down constant. It seems to be coming from the left side of the block which I think would be the HG? Car idles normal and sounds good. I havent tried to drive or anything though due to the amount of oil it is leaking? What could it be?

New Head gasket. A new head gasket is around 170 PSI through out the whole engine. You should never have a 16 PSI drop difference between any of the cylinders, not to mention that 145 is low. Replace the head gasket and get some ARP studs on it as well. :thumb:

I wouldnt drive or all, sounds like a blown hg, so can you see where the oil is coming from?

To me it looks like the oil is leaking from the hg on the bottom left part of the block by the bov.

Should I just get ARP's and an MLS headgasket? Or should I re-ring the pistons cause the car does have 130k on it? I just don't wanna go through doing this again cause bad compression.

First off, in relation to what Alex had to say. 145 is in no way low. Most people are more than happy with 145. Read the manual, the minimal compression for cylinders in the 4g63 is 105. I've seen tons of compression test results with 16psi differences from cylinder to cylinder, too. And they have no problems.

Now, in regards to your headgasket problems. It sounds like you have a head gasket that is actually about to blow. Just to check and make sure that it's not completely blown, I would do the following.

1. Get an empty bucket or oil drain pan... and make sure it's dry.
2. Catch the leaking oil, and then drain the rest of your oil into a seperate pan.
3. Look to see if the oil has water in it. It'll be really thick if so.

If there's water in the oil, then there's a 99% chance that your headgasket went. A buddy of mine has a 2g Talon TSi AWD that had a faulty head gasket. It wasn't completely blown, but it was leaking a little bit. The more and more they drove it, the worse the leak became. Finally it ended up blowing. Sounds like your problem to me.

Also, when you did your compression test on the car, did you have your foot to the floor? If so, put a teaspoon of oil into the cylinder with 94psi compression and retest it. If your compression goes up in that cylinder, then chances are you have bad rings. You could also go about replacing those when you do your head gasket, too.

My foot was to the floor when I did the comp test for sure. I did drop a little oil in the low cylinders and they did go up some I'll have to re-check it when I have another chance.
