My stock boost gauge does not work. Regaurdless of how much I boost, it stays at -7 psi which could be a problem since I'd rather not over boost. Everything on my car is still stock. Previous owner didn't do anything to it but basic maintence (I did fix his idle problem though :D)

I've looked at the schematics and found the pressure gauge, but I can't seem to find in on the car itself. Where is it? Can someone give me a picture? And maybe some directions on how to diagnose why it does not work? Bit lost since all my manaul says for a test is to turn it on and see if it goes to 0 psi. Nothing else about how to fix the guage if it does not work.

They're not very expensive, and you stand a good chance of spending more money fixing the stock one than what it would cost to just buy an Autometer or something. This is especially true if the transducer/sender unit is bad.

In most cases they can be picked up for under $50 brand new.

Out of curiosity, why does your profile say you have a 91 non-turbo (w/ turbo)? Is this the car you're having trouble with? If this is the case, you shouldn't have a stock boost gauge in the first place.

The stock DSM boost gauge isn't a boost gauge. It is interpolated (surprisingly close to accurately) by the ECU based on many engine parameters, including throttle position, engine RPM, airflow measured at the intake, and other... stuff. However, it fails miserably when you begin modifying the engine away from stock specifications, which is why newbies are told the FIRST mod is the installation of a real boost gauge.

fixed what?
